Dedicated to Tommie Smith and John Carlos' protest salute on the podium at the 1968 Summer Olympics. Tommie Smith later taught at Santa Monica College, where I took my first Sculpting class.This piece is carved in full relief from solid, opaque black stone on a hand-finished African padauk base.
